The Local 4 News community is grieving alongside longtime anchor and investigative reporter Karen Drew, who announced the heartbreaking death of her husband, Paul Gorcyca.

In an emotional post on social media, Drew wrote:
“We are in a fog. We buried my children’s father last week. Paul was loved by so many. His big smile and even bigger heart impacted and changed lives. He turned friends into family, helped coworkers grow, and loved BIG. His number one joy was his daughters… and as you can imagine we are heartbroken. As we take on this next chapter excuse us as we are scattered and a bit lost. As we hold tight to each other, a reminder to all to love BIG.”

Remembering Paul Gorcyca
Paul was widely known among friends and family for his generosity and warmth. He often supported his daughters, Madison and Morgan, in their school and sports activities, including soccer and softball. Those close to him recall his sense of humor, loyalty, and his ability to connect with people easily.
Though Karen and Paul filed for divorce in March 2023, they shared 15 years of marriage and continued to be united in their love for their daughters. The news of Paul’s passing has left many shocked and heartbroken.
Community Reactions
Messages of support poured in after Drew’s announcement.
“Karen, I am so sorry to hear the loss of your beloved husband Paul!! I will hold your family and you in our hearts and prayers each day,” wrote Tracy Kleine.
Another friend, Jamey Lanier Harper, shared a memory of meeting Paul:
“It was hours before our big fireworks downtown… he sat next to us and started small talk. He told us who his wife was, and we had to tell him that our TV never leaves Channel 4. He was warm, kind, and genuine. We are so, so sorry.”
Others described Paul as “a blessing” and “a man with a big heart,” with many sending prayers to Karen and her daughters.
